Updated Instructions for Use for Cook Celect Platinum Vena Cava Filter Set

A Dear Healthcare Professional Letter has been issued by Cook South East Asia to inform healthcare professionals of updates to the Instructions for Use (IFU) of the Cook Celect Platinum Vena Cava Filter Set to clarify the percutaneous placement of the device via a femoral or jugular vein in adult patients and to reinforce its contraindicated use in paediatric and pregnant patients. Healthcare professionals are advised not to exert excessive force during wire guide or the introduction system advancement, and during placement, repositioning or retrieving of the filter. They are advised not to re-sheath the expanded filter during femoral approach, nor rotate, advance or retract it inside the vena cava as it may lead to additional interventions or surgical removal. Healthcare professionals are also advised to ensure that the device is used in patients with vessel diameters compatible with the associated device components and to follow instructions thoroughly to ensure successful deployment. Please refer to the letter for details.
