MOTILIUM (Domperidone) Oral Suspension (1mg/mL) and Tablet (10mg): Changes to dosage recommendations

A Dear Healthcare Professional Letter has been issued by Janssen to update healthcare professionals on the recent changes to the dosage recommendations of MOTILIUM (Domperidone) oral suspension (1mg/mL) and tablet (10mg) to minimize cardiac risks including serious arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death associated with the use of the medicine.  A higher risk was observed in patients older than 60 years, and in patients taking daily doses of more than 30mg/day. Healthcare professionals are advised to prescribe MOTILIUM at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration and stop its treatment if signs or symptoms occur that may be associated with cardiac arrhythmia. Healthcare professionals are advised to refer to the letter for details.
