Important Information Regarding the proper insertion and removal technique for Implanon® (etonogestrel implant)

SOL Limited (Singapore Branch) ('MSD"), a subsidiary of Merck & Co. Inc, would like to highlight to healthcare professionals the importance of the proper insertion and removal techniques for Implanon®, a long-acting subdermally implanted contraceptive, so as to ensure the efficacy of the product. SOL Limited also advises that users should be informed that they can request the removal Implanon® at any time but the implant should not be left in place for more than 3 years. Only a physician who is familiar with the removal technique should, on request or at the end of the 3 years perform the removal procedure.

Step 1: Scroll down to the bottom navigation panel of the HPP web page. Under the Healthcare Professionals section, expand the dropdown option for ‘Healthcare Professional Portal’ and select your profession. You will be redirected to the specific HPP web page to log in.

Step 2: Click on the Restricted Content icon on the left panel of the web page and log in via SingPass.

Step 3: Click on the MOH Alert icon under the ‘Applications’ section.

Step 4: Click on the Drug Alert tab to view the DHCPLs.
