Genotropin (Somatropin): Importance of following Instructions For Use to mitigate potential defect in pre-filled pen device that could result in a increase in the dosage administered

Pfizer Private Limited would like to inform healthcare professionals of a potential manufacturing defect in the dosing mechanic of some GoQuick pre-filled pens used to administer Genotropin. The manufacturing defect was found to create the possibility of the dose being set to one extra click beyond the dose selected and indicated in the memory window in some pens when the patient turns the knob with excessive force. This may result in a small increase in the dosage administered compared to the preset dose. Healthcare professionals are advise to remind their patients to follow the instructions in the Patient Information Leaflet, which shows the way in which patients should set the correct dose. Please refer to the letter for more information.
