Each item that is sent to the Applied Sciences Group's forensic science and analytical chemistry testing laboratories for examination undergoes a systematic process from submission to reporting of the results.
This rigorous laboratory process is governed by a multi-faceted quality management system that ensures the integrity of the examination process and reliability of the results.
The forensic laboratories have achieved accreditation status since 1996 and are currently accredited in accordance with the recognised ISO/IEC 17025 Forensic Testing programme under the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
The Pharmaceutical Laboratory, Cosmetics Laboratory and Cigarette Testing Laboratory in the Pharmaceutical Division have achieved accreditation since 1997, followed by Biologics Laboratory since 2024. They are currently accredited in accordance with the recognised International Standard ISO/IEC 17025 under the Singapore Accreditation Council – Singapore Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (SAC-SINGLAS).
The Pharmaceutical Laboratory and Cigarette Testing Laboratory are also designated as World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centres for Medicine Quality Assurance and Tobacco Testing & Research, respectively.
